COMMON QUESTIONS:

SUBSTRATE REQUIREMENTS
Structurally sound, well bounded, flat to within 3/16” in 10’ radius, or 1/8” in 6’ radius. Vertical deflection cannot exceed 1/4” in 10’ radius, or more than 1/16” between the floor joist.

APPROVED SUBSTRATES
Underlayment APA grade CDX plywood/OSB, 3000 PSI concrete or 2500 PSI gypcrete. Underlayment grade MDF (floating only).

WOOD SUBFLOOR (EMC) MOISTURE CONTENT REQUIREMENTS
Engineered wood MC (moisture content) must test within 3% of the wood subfloor. Neither can exceed 12%. If the MC falls outside this range, a longer acclimation period is required to reach equilibrium.

CONCRETE AND GYPCRETE MOISTURE EMISSIONS, RH, AND PH REQUIREMENTS
Installing a vapor barrier is not required, but it is strongly
recommended on installations over on or above grade slabs with a calcium chloride reading under 3 lbs /1000sf per 24 hours or under 75% relative humidity as determined by current ASTM standards, or a CM (calcium carbide) rating of 2.5% or less. The pH levels must be between 5 – 9. Below grade and any substrate over 3 lbs /1000sf per 24 hours require a vapor barrier.

JOBSITE CONDITION RANGES
Prior, during, and after installation, the jobsite RH must be maintained between 35-55%, and the room temperature between 60-80°F.

ACCLIMATION TIMEFRAME
Minimum 24 hours to reach room temperature between 60-80°F and 48 hours if the material was stored or transported in temperature below 60°F within 24 hours of install.

CAN WE INSTALL A CUSHION UNDERNEATH THE FLOOR?
YES, FOR FLOATING INSTALLATION ONLY. Approved cushions are high density #59EVA 3mm, #59IXPE 3mm, #60PVC 1.5mm, and cork up to 1/4” in thickness. EPE economical cushion is not recommended.

RUG COMPATIBILITY
Must be breathable, non abrasive, natural fiber rugs. Please see RugPadUSA.com. For example; Eco Plush 3/8”, Contour Lock, RugPro, or Superior Lock 1/4”.RugPro, or Superior Lock 1/4”.
